Have a Drink..for the Animals!

Instead of drinking without a cause, this Thursday May 12th your libations can support the Denton Animal Support Foundation. At 6pm, Denton Slacker will kick off a fundraising pub crawl and scavenger hunt at Abbey Underground. You can buy your tickets on their website or you can buy tickets in person if you show up at Abbey Underground before 7pm. All proceeds go to the DASF.

What does a $20 full-access pass get you? Attendees can have a free drink at 5 different bars, which includes Abbey Underground, Mulberry Street Cantina, Dusty’s Bar & Grill, Bearded Monk, and Oak Street Drafthouse. VIP passes get you two free tacos from Dusty’s Bar & Grill, who stepped in (and saved the day) after the unexpected news of Flatlanders closing last week.

More than just booze & tacos, pub crawl attendees will get a t-shirt and a chance to win prizes during the scavenger hunt. After the crawl ends, the crew will head back to the Abbey Underground for the afterparty. It’s probably best to play it safe after having five drinks in five hours - also, food is a great idea.

If you’re looking for tips on how to win the scavenger hunt, we suggest making sure that your phone batteries are fully charged before heading to the crawl. Pictures and video are going to be necessary and you will be able to form teams of four. Prizes include a gift certificate to the Traveling Grooming Parlor & Beard Emporium (aka the Bearded Lady), a tote bag from See Lacy Sew, t-shirt and mug from Denton Swag, and a print from Matthew Gordon Sallack, the fantastic bearded artist behind Otter Illustration.

The man coordinating the event is David Bayon. Bayon is the proud owner of 2 dogs, 2 cats, 5 parrots, and a guinea pig, so it was not a hard decision for him to put forth his time for an event supporting the Denton Animal Support Foundation. The primary goal of DASF is to save Denton area animals by supporting shelters, encouraging adoption, paying medical costs, and supporting educational programs on animal care.

Animal abandonment is a more common occurrence than most people realize. If you’d like to make sure local furry friends aren’t forgotten, then going to Denton Slacker’s pub crawl is an easy way to support animal welfare.
