Thursday, June 29

An Intimate Evening at Nebulae
Nebulae, 7 p.m.

Get cozy in the comfy quarters of Nebulae for An Intimate Evening, featuring live performances by some of the finest musicians Texas has to offer.

Denton acts start and end the night: Matthew And The Arrogant Sea (MATAS) kicks off the show with a very special stripped-down set featuring members of the original lineup, and rock ‘n’ roll singer-songwriter Daniel Markham will close out the night. In between, Austin indie-folk solo artist Dwight Smith and energetic indie-folk band Ooni will make their mark on this house-show venue. It’s totally free, but donations for the touring bands are appreciated. B.Y.O.B. Music starts around 8 p.m.

Yo Denton with Spinderella
Rockin’ Rodeo, 8 p.m.

Yo Denton is back with another epic hip-hop party — and this edition features world-renowned DJ Spinderella! A Grammy award-winning producer, rapper, and writer, Dee Dee Roper, aka DJ Spinderella, is best known as a member of iconic rap group Salt-N-Pepa.

Denton’s own DJs — Mike Vivid, Mark Miller, and Swiif T — will be spinning in support of this hip-hop veteran. In addition to this awesome lineup, there will be live art, giveaways, drink specials, AND retro Nintendo and Sega games to play on large projector screens. Tickets are $12 for those 18–20 and $10 for those 21+. Let's kick it old school, Denton.

The $12 Show
BackYard On Bell, 8 p.m.

Join BackYard On Bell (BYOB) for the first installment of The $12 Show featuring five-piece party-funk group Puddin Taine, ska/punk foursome The Holophonics, and electro-soul duo Mr. Grudge.

As always, BYOB will be serving up delicious homemade pizza and cocktails. Come show your support for the Denton music community — it's only $12!

Armadillo Ale Works Made an IPA!
East Side, 7 p.m.

Cool down with a nice new brew by joining Denton’s own Armadillo Ale Works for the release of their American IPA, Land Yacht. A hoppy yet well-balanced ale, Land Yacht is composed of Citra, Mosaic, Azacca, Centennial, and Columbus hops. Yum!

Plus, if you buy one of these palatable brews, you get to keep the limited-edition Land Yacht glassware. They’ll also have Greenbelt, Quakertown Stout, and Honey Please by Armadillo Ale Works on tap. This all goes down at East Side around 7 p.m.

Night of Radness, Vol. 1
BackYard On Bell, 8 p.m.

Post up at BackYard On Bell for a Night of Radness. The first volume in this series of showcases will feature comedic performances by Joe Coffee, Carey Cool Trip, and Taylor Higginbotham, plus musical performances by Dome Dwellers, Sunbuzzed, GOLDENJOY, and Super Hero/Super Villain.

Additionally, there will be live screen printing by Nice Dudes Servicing Craft and an interactive art installation from Weird Destiny Production. It’s only $5 for this rad, all-ages event. Let’s party, y’all!

The Monkberries, Mink Coats
Lone Star Taps & Caps, 9 p.m.

Take time to unwind this Friday with a few craft brews and live local music at Lone Star Taps & Caps, where Denton singer-songwriter duo (and occasional six-piece) The Monkberries will be joined by garage psych-rock four-piece Mink Coats.

If you’re a fan (or soon-to-be fan) of The Monkberries, make sure to catch this show, as they’ll be heading up to Colorado for a bit. As always, there's a $3 cover for those 18–20 and a $1 cover for those 21+.

Brave Combo, Red Death

Make tracks to Andy’s Bar for a night of melodious madness as Denton’s own Brave Combo unleashes their special brand of polka/salsa/rock/classical/cumbia quirkiness upon the public.

Spiderweb Salon’s 5 Year Celebration
Dan’s Silver Leaf, 7:30 p.m.

Denton art collective Spiderweb Salon is celebrating five years of unveiling and showcasing local writers, artists, musicians, and outside-the-box performers. To celebrate a half-decade of creativity and community, they’re partying with a well-packed lineup of local poets, storytellers, songwriters, actors, philosophers, artists, and more!

After the showcase, Denton’s own post-indie-rock seven-piece Ella Minnow reunites for a ten-year reunion show. They’ll be joined by Dallas dance-punk five-piece Party Static. Denton is bursting with creativity — discover it. It’s only five bucks, y’all. 18+.

As always, BYOB will be serving delicious homemade pizza and cocktails, and a few food trucks will be out as well. Plus, you can play giant Connect Four while enjoying the tunes. This all-ages event is free!

Sunday, July 2

The Denton Food Deathcathlon Returns
Dan’s Silver Leaf, 2 p.m.

The Denton Food Deathcathlon returns to Dan’s Silver Leaf! The idea is to see who can eat/drink ten food items the fastest — and keep it all down for at least five minutes. Running with a summer picnic theme, there will be corn on the cob, hot dogs, watermelon, and more.

Tyler Spears of Mother of Tongues was last year’s champion. Will he return to claim the title once again, or will it be you? Entry is free, but space is limited to ten serious competitors. We’re not sure if they're still accepting entries, but it's worth a shot! Eating for a bar tab? Sunday never tasted so good.

LGBTQ+ Youth Yoga
OUTreach Denton, 6 p.m.

Join OUTreach Denton for the first installment of LGBTQ+ Youth Yoga. A summer series, this event will take place each Sunday until August 6th at OUTreach Denton. Led by K, an ERYT 200 yoga instructor, the first hour will be designated for yoga and the second for hanging out.

LGBTQ+ youth of 13–18 years of age (as well as allies) are welcome to embrace this centering space. The event is FREE and mats will be provided!

RSVP at outreachdenton@gmail.com and see the event page for address.
