Weekend Update: April 21­ - 24

If you thought you don’t have plans this weekend, think again. There’s a ton of cool events going on around town all weekend. Make sure you hit up the Denton Redbud Festival, and get there early because there’ll be music and things starting pretty early. Speaking of music, have you heard about the new radio station coming to Denton? KUZU 92.9 will be at Harvest House on Friday night, so go out and support them!

Thursday, April 21

LGBTQIA Adult Social
Harvest House, 6 pm
Support the local LGBTQIA community—if you don’t know what that stands for, you def need to come and educate yourself. OUTreach Denton will be hosting; have a beer with them!

Poses & Pints
The Bearded Monk, 4:30 pm
Drinking? Exercise? Sounds like an unlikely combination, but it’s true! Hang out with your local yoga masters and share a pint or two and some fun.

Friday, April 22

KUZUthon – Pink Moon
Harvest House, 6 pm
We get pretty tired of listening to the same radio stations, but guess what? The Denton community is about to bringing something new to the radio waves. Come out and support our local radio station, KUZU 92.9 FM, and listen to a huge lineup of bands they’re bringing out. Don’t forget to keep supporting them on their Instagram and Facebook, and if you want to make a donation or a pledge, you can do that through their Kickstarter

Monthly Game Night
The Bearded Monk, 7 pm
You’re gonna want to get your dice rolling hands read for this event, sponsored by Karma Yoga Denton. Meet some Denton yogis (yoga pants, not required) who’ll be bringing a slew of games to play with your friends and/or join in with someone new. I mean, who doesn’t love a good game night—and drinking—on a Friday night?

Full Moon–Earth Day Labyrinth Walk
First Christian Church, 7:30 pm
You don’t have to be a green thumb to appreciate Earth Day. Celebrate with other Dentonites, gaze up and take in the beauty of the Full Moon, and participate in their Labyrinth Walk.

Ian Moore & The Lossy Coils
Dan’s Silverleaf, 7 pm
You really shouldn’t miss this show, y’all. Singer-songwriter Ian Moore, from Austin, joins the stage with The Lossy Coils. Moore’s shows are an indelible experience, beautiful blend of rock and soul. Cover is $15 if you pay in advance.

Saturday, April 16

Denton Redbud Festival
Denton Civic Center, 10 am–4 pm
Make sure you get to the festival early this year, because there’s something going on every house, on the hour. A.M. Ramblers start the tunes at 10:30, followed by Tony Ferraro and Kim Nall & The Fringe. The events are free, including classes, lectures, and a TRASHion fashion show. Trust us, you’ll see a lot of your friends out.

Water Wise Landscaping Workshop at the Redbud Festival
Denton Civic Center, 9 am–10 am
Gather in the Community Room of the Civic Center for an hour of enlightenment on water conservation and landscaping. County Horticulture Extension Agent, Janet Laminack, will teach you how to create an incredible yard or garden that’s low maintenance and conserving of water. Be sure to register before spots fill up.

Food & Beer Pairing with Ravelin Bakery
Eastside Denton, 2 pm
The beer garden (voted Best Bar in Denton, CONGRATS!) is hosting yet another pairing, this time with Denton’s famous Ravelin Bakery. $25 gets you five or six pairings and two beers. You’ll probably want to take advantage of the food trucks afterward. The last time they partnered with Ravelin, tickets went fast, so make sure you get your ticket. Sign up ends on Friday, 22.

Sunday, April 17

903’s Women Rock Partayyyy!
The Bearded Monk, 1 pm–5 pm
Women Rock is an organization spreading awareness and education for breast cancer. 903 will be hosting, so come out and try some of their beers and show your support.
