Bonding with bots—where art and pop culture collide. Join Leonardo Arts/Science Evening Rendezvous (or LASER) and step into the future for a night of human-robot interaction. Hosted by xREZ Art + Science Lab, this event will bring artists and scientists together with the public for informal presentations and lively conversations addressing the local/global importance of technology, sciences, the industry, and the arts. Put your thinking caps on and rub elbows with the evening’s speakers and fellow attendees. Roundtable discussions begin at 5:30 PM; guest speakers start around 6 PM.
Lord of the Rings Trivia Night
Mulberry Street Cantina, 8 PM
If there is one trivia game to rule them all—this is it. Mulberry Street Cantina trivia hits nerdom for many with this week’s theme: Lord of the Rings. Test your trilogy knowledge and win up to $40 (teams can consist of 1–12 members). Plus, Lean Machine will be out with delicious grub and, of course, there will be plenty of refreshing cocktails to help jog your memory.
Madaline’s NTX Foodbank Can Food Drive
Andy’s Bar, 10 PM
Local seven-piece ska/punk band Madaline is partnering with the North Texas Food Bank in order to raise awareness of those in need. Madaline will be showcasing their ska-tastic skills, along with D-Mar, Flip and The Combined Effort, and more. Bring at least three canned goods and pay no cover! They’re asking for donations of nutritious items if possible, i.e., canned veggies or tuna, brown rice, peanut butter, etc.
Friday, October 7th
The Infamists / Leonhardt / The Heavy Hands
Dane Manor, 7:30 PM
Get your fill of punk and rock ‘n’ roll with a dose of folk at this Friday house show. Leonhardt, of Antique Scream, is on tour and will be returning to Denton to deliver his psychedelic-esque blues to Dane Manor—so, be in attendance! Flintlock Gypsy Album Release Party
Killer’s Tacos, 9 PM

The Hope Trust at Harvest House
Harvest House, 9 PM
Long-time Denton rock/pop outfit The Hope Trust will deliver high-energy and a lot of heart to the Harvest House stage Friday. With being compared to artists like Wilco and Neil Finn, Kelly Upshaw’s poignant lyrics tend to softly seep through his breathy vocals. The forecast calls for AM showers, but by the time this show starts it will be perfect patio weather. Put on a sweater, head to HH for a beer (or two, or three), and capture the sweet, cerebel sounds of The Hope Trust. Music starts at 9 PM. $2 cover.
Saturday, October 8th
DCYP Second Saturday at the Mobile Food Pantry
Serve Denton, 8 AM
Throughout 2016, Denton County Young Professionals have been assisting the Denton County Food Bank with its Mobile Food Pantry. They’ll be out again on this second Saturday distributing quality fresh food to people in need. If you know someone in need, send them the way of the event. If you’re interested in volunteering, there is still time—sign-up via the Facebook event page. This charitable happening will take place at Serve Denton and will run until noon.

Each of these altruistic organizations are committed to Denton and its community. Tickets range from $15–$35 and are available via the event page. This is an all-ages event, but you must have an ID if you’re planning on consuming beer (oh, yes, there will be beer). Come run and enjoy the fun, Denton.
Matthew and The Arrogant Sea / The Birds of Night / Joe Gorgeous
Nebulae, 7 PM
Glide into the galactic space that is Nebulae for a night of rock, pop, and spacial sounds. Denton staple Matthew and The Arrogant Sea will be serenading us with their space-rock and indie-pop jams. Frontman Matthew Gray is known for beautifully belting his literate lyrics, making holding a note look like a cakewalk (but I’m not bias or anything). Birds of Night deem themselves to be “pop for a**holes.” Well, we don’t know about that, but we’re down for the “rock…” or “whatever.” Joe Gorgeous kicks off the show with their glam-rock/pop ensemble. Show starts at 7 PM. FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated.
Sunday, October 9th

This class is $5 and proceeds will benefit 7Feathers. Get centered, Denton.
