OUTreach to Host 6th Annual LGBTQ Valentine's Event

Dentonites in need of some Valentine’s Day-themed fun this weekend should look no further than OUTreach Denton’s 6th Annual Valentine’s Day Bash. The event will be held Saturday, February 10 at Oak St. Drafthouse from 1 to 9 p.m., and while there is no entry fee, Oak St. will be donating a portion of sales to OUTReach Denton.

Celebrating its six-year anniversary, the bash was created for “LGBTQ+ people to have a safe space to celebrate love and community with queer-affirming people,” said Kamyon Conner, Chair of the Steering Committee for OUTReach. The event is “more centered on love of self and community, each other.”

Attendees who purchase a $5 beer will get a free Valentine’s Day pint glass to take home. This year the glasses center on queer/trans people of color.

According to their Facebook event, buttons courtesy of the OUTReach Youth Group will be available for purchase, and attendees are encouraged to use their “prop-filled photo booth.” The Famous Dumpling Bros food truck, which offers authentic Korean cuisine, will be parked at Oak St. for the duration of the event.

OUTReach Denton, per their website, comprises “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or allies who are developing LGBTQA resources in Denton, Texas.” Proceeds from this yearly event support programming for their youth group.

The organization hosts weekly youth meetings at the Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship every Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. LGBTQ and allies ages 13–18 are encouraged to attend. Additionally, a monthly social for adults is held on the third Thursday of each month at Harvest House, a venue selected for its wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and entertainment.

OUTReach accepts monthly and one-time donations year-round. Information on how to make a donation can be found on their website.
