Weekend Update: March 18 - 20, 2016
The wake of St. Patty’s Day is upon us with this extremely music-heavy weekend. The best thing about this weekend is that you can throw a dart at any genre of music and then head to a show with said music on the bill. Country, punk, rap, folk, noise, classical, rock, psychedelic, and probably others we are missing will all be represented at clubs and house shows all weekend. Where will you be?

Eleven Hundred Springs
Dan’s Silverleaf, 9 pm
Eleven Hundred Springs is a Texas country rock band from Dallas, and notably, one of the few remaining country outlaw bands. A rare treat for them to be in Denton at Dan’s Silverleaf, this show should hold promise to fantastic and legendary Texas country music.
Sunday, March 20
Dallas Symphony Orchestra: The Music of John Williams
Murchison Performing Arts Center, 6:30 pm
I know, this may be a little confusing for some -- but this is not Oak St/Denton Baller John Williams, this is the music-composer, John Williams. And, it’s sold out show. The selection list is pretty dang impressive, too. This is a one-of-a-kind experience!
Mercury Rev. with Josh T Pearson
Dan’s Silverleaf, 7 pm
Early shows are seriously one of our favorite things about Sunday nights and Dan’s Silverleaf. Oaktopia, the festival that is not sitting idly by, will host their first event of the year that brings Mercury Rev to Denton. Also joining the New York-based band will be Lift to Experience’s Josh T Pearson. Tickets can be purchased here.
Another House Show
Purple Palace, 8 pm
What is Purple Palace you ask? Well, it's the new home of the Casa De Fun Button folks. The lineup includes New York’s Yonatan Gat along with Animal Spirit, GOLDNEJOY, ORCANAUT, and ROAR SHACK. No underage drinking, but there will be $3 keg beers for sale. Bring cash to donate to the traveling bands, too.
