Weekend Update 1/4-1/7

Happy New Year, Dentonites!

The new year brings us a fresh start and fills us with the inspiration of possibility: what lies in store for us this year? Spending more time with friends, trying new things, and enjoying everything Denton has to offer are some new year’s resolutions worth sticking to. This weekend is filled with events to start your 2018 off right. This Friday, SCRAP Denton is hosting their Inaugural Artist in Residence show, displaying the artwork of three local talents. J&J’s Ol’ Dirty Basement is back up and running, with a resurrection show on Saturday. There’s going to be a stacked show at Andy’s featuring Denton's favorite emo rock group, Sad Cops.

This Thursday, Glitterbomb reminds us about the importance of laughter and love in times of heartache as they host Pineapple Party, a special show put on in honor of the late performer and Glitterbomb co-founder Jette Blaque. Dan’s Silverleaf is hosting a birthday celebration show for the still-missing beloved Brave Combo front man Joe Cripps. These events remind us of how tight-knit and supportive our Denton arts scene can be.

Here’s your weekend update.
