Komodo Loco Does Lunch

Everybody stop what you are doing: Komodo Loco is finally opening up for lunch, beginning this Friday at 11am. They are also rolling out an updated menu and featuring their first happy hour.

Kyle Krueger, Corey Bobbit, and MIcah Fleck were kind enough to take us through some of the exciting new menu additions and give us the deets on the drink specials you can now partake in for some Friday afternoon libations.

The highly anticipated addition known as the Poke Bowl got a sneak peek this week, to nothing short of rave reviews. You have your choice of mixing and matching two proteins between Poke cube tuna, salmon, spicy chopped salmon, or tuna on a bed of sushi rice, and the bowl comes fully loaded. It's topped with a spicy and delicious crab salad, fresh pineapple, cucumber, avocado slices, house soy-pickled jalapeños for another layer of heat, masago, furikake, and fried crispy onions and wasabi microgreens. You can customize it by removing ingredients, but the kitchen holds nothing back with its house presentation of the Komodo Poke Bowl. There will also be a sauce option of Asian chimichurri, spicy ponzu, or sesame Thai. The furikake is a versatile seaweed rice seasoning that adds a little sweetness to the dish, and is as commonplace in Japan as pepper and salt.  All the different flavors meld into each other, with each bite offering something a little bit different.

The Bao Sammies feature two new options. The Fried Chicken Bao is a slow cooked chicken, tossed in a spicy batter and then fried and served with a house pickled cucumber carrot salad, green onions, and topped with a chipotle aioli. The chicken is crispy and tender, the sauce rich and spicy, with the pickled vegetables adding the right amount of bite, served in a fluffy flavorful bao bun.

The Pork Belly Bao combines grilled pork belly, Asian slaw, house pickled radish, cilantro, and a spicy orange sauce. The Komodo pork belly never disappoints, the meat is tender and bursting with flavor, and the coolness of the slaw balances the spice and zest of the orange sauce.

The Fried Chicken Skins are crispy and delicious. Fried chicken skins, served with a house Korean BBQ Sauce, Sesame Thai Sauce, topped with sesame seeds, wasabi micro greens, and served with lime. The skins are salty, savory, with a touch of sweetness from the sesame. The lime adds the perfect citrus kick, and this is a dish you won’t be able to stop eating.

Komodo Loco is starting with just Friday, and depending on demand, will expand their lunch offering into the rest of the week. You can look forward to a daily happy hour, and some new specialty cocktails. Happy Hour specials include $1 of sake, house wine, draft beer, plus discounts on their speciality drinks and will run from 3-6pm on Fridays and from open (4pm) til 6pm the rest of the week. You can keep up with all their drool worthy photos on their Facebook
