Unicorn Lake Ale Fest
Drunken Donkey took over the space previously inhabited by the Pour House in May of 2015, and in addition to an extensive beer list and scratch kitchen, they are doing what they can to host events that bring people to the other side of 35. Tonight marks the first annual Unicorn Lake Ale Fest, and the Drunken Donkey is bringing 5 local breweries together with special limited releases, seasonal tappings, live music, and giveaways throughout the event.
The event is free to attend, but if you want to check out all the breweries have to offer it’s $20 for 10 - 3oz sample tickets and you receive a Drunken Donkey Bottle Opener as well. After the first set of tickets, it’s just $5 for 3 - 3oz sample tickets so you can circle back and keep sipping on your favorites.
Armadillo Ale Works will have all 4 of the beers represented, bringing in Brunch Money, Dapper Apple, Quakertown Stout, and the re-release of the Greenbelt Saison. Shannon Brewery from Keller will have their Irish Red, the Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, their Witherspoon Barrel Aged Chocolate Stout, and their Blonde. Audacity Brew House will bet set up with Winter Wonderland, The Great Escape, Black Widow on Nitro, and the Bulletproof. Deep Ellum Brewery will have their Barrel Crusher that has been aged in Whistle Pig Rye Barrels for a year, Praline Porter, Local Legend, and the Easy Peasy.

The VVOES will be delivering their post-punk, power pop sound while patrons visit each breweries table and picking out their samples. The event will be indoors so you can stay nice and toasty while enjoying the view of Unicorn Lake from any table or booth. In addition to 145 taps, the Drunken Donkey has an extensive food menu featuring many options that incorporate beers available on draught in the recipes, and an all day Brunch menu that will make your mouth water. We’re talking Wells Banana Bread French Toast with Rogue Hazelnut Syrup, y’all. They have specials every day of the week, $5 Burger with fries and Happy Hour all day on Monday, and Tap Out Thursday that coincides with a Tap Takeover where you buy the beer and take the glass home with you.
Drunken Donkey is located at 3350 Unicorn Lake Boulevard, and is open 11 am through midnight Sunday through Thursday, then staying open til 2 am on Friday and Saturday. Check out their Facebook page to keep up with additional deals and specials they have throughout the week.
