18th Annual Denton Blues Festival Preview
The 18th Annual Denton Blues Festival hosted by the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce will take place Friday, September 16th - Sunday, September 18th. The festival is free to attend and is located at Quakertown Park, 321 E. McKinney St. in Denton.
New this year on Friday is karaoke. This is open to anyone who attends, and you can sign-up at the event. On Saturday, the music starts at 1 PM with performances from the Denton Music Academy, followed by Benois King at 2:30 PM. The Neal Drennan Band takes the stage at 4 with their Blues and Classic Rock tunes and Buddy Whittington follows that up at 5:30 PM with some classic rock, blues, and western swing. Announced via Facebook, Toronzo Cannon from Chicago and the Selwyn Birchwood Band from Tampa, FL will headline the night at 7 PM and 8:45 PM, respectively.
Sunday starts at the same time with the Fort Worth School of Rock at 1 PM, followed by the Tim Hood Band, who promises good times, and Greg A. Smith at 2:30 PM and 4 PM. To end the night and the festival, the Mike Babb Blues Band with Paul Byrd will take the stage at 5:30 PM and DFW local Zac Harmon will headline at 7 PM.
The music is enough reason for us to go, but maybe you need a little more incentive? How about some delicious food? Denton festivals always have good food and Denton Blues Festival is no exception to that. There’ll be all the festival food you can handle, plus bounce houses, face painting, arts and crafts for the kiddos, and much more.
