King Camel Presents Damn Fine Music Fest II
@ Three Links, Deep Ellum
For those of the Lynchian persuasion, this past weekend was the second annual gathering of musically-inclined followers of cult-classic bizarro TV show Twin Peaks. Hosted by King Camel’s very own Jeff Brown in Deep Ellum’s Three Links, this year’s set-up followed in the footsteps of last year’s rock lottery-esque structure by bringing together musicians from all over the DFW metroplex. Organized into five bands, each representing a single character from the show, this year’s participants drew inspiration from Twin Peaks: The Return, named as such for following the second season of the show 25 years later. Playing 25-minute sets crafted over the course of mere months, many of Denton and Dallas’ finest talents took to the stage as seductress and sleuth Audrey Horne, the hard-of-hearing, fix-your-heart-or-die Gordon Cole, the Black Lodge possessed Mr. C, the mysterious giant The Fireman, and the enigmatic creature known as Judy.
We had no idea where this could be headed, but we have a feeling that you’ll find these photos both wonderful and strange.
