Breakdown of Construction Projects in Denton

It may be 2019 but this doesn’t mean construction projects stop for the new year. In the city of Denton, there are some notable areas to keep in mind when traveling or to avoid all together.

Here’s a breakdown of current road and lane closures, street improvements, detours and future construction projects in Denton, according to the City of Denton’s Street Construction report.

Street closures and detours

Streets will be closed on Eagle drive starting from Elm street through Carroll street, due to drainage and water improvements. The project started on December 3, 2018 and is expected to be completed by May 31.

Over on Bonnie Brae street, phase one of street widening is being constructed until July 1, 2019. Roselawn drive and north of the Village will be affected until the project is completed.

Due to street reconstruction that started earlier this month, Wilsonwood street on Castle lane will be closed. The reconstruction end-date is Feb. 22, 2019.

FM 2181 at city of Denton/Corinth city limits to Lillian Miller parkway will be impacted by street widening. The initial start of the project was July 2017 and is expected to be finished by February 2020.

Streets located on Bernard street from Fannin to W. Chestnut street will be closed. This four-month street reconstruction project started on Jan. 4, 2019 and is expected to be finished by April 5.

At the intersection of Myrtle street from Eagle to Maple street will be closed for Eagle street drainage improvements. The drainage improvements project started September 2018 and will be completed by May 31, 2019.

Temporary lane closures

Back in September 2017, temporary lane closures started on Mayhill road from US 380. This project is still in session and will be completed by Feb. 2, 2020. Lanes will be temporarily closed for the remainder of the year on Mayhill road to Edwards street for street widening.

At the intersection of Shady Oaks drive from Teasley lane to Woodrow lane, the lanes will be temporarily closed for base repairs. The lanes closures will open up again after Feb. 2 when the project is expected to be completed.

Due to  curb and gutter replacements, roads on Laguna and Manhattan drive at Yellowstone to Sherman drive will be temporarily closed until March 29, 2019. Detours are provided during the duration of the project.

Future road closures

This project was delayed (initial start date Jan. 15) and will now start on Feb. 15 until February 2020. On Bonnie Brae street from Roselawn ending at I-35E, there will be temporary lane closures due to phase two of the north south water main.

Another street widening project will cause for Hickory creek road from Teasley lane to Riverpass drive to have temporary lane closures. The project’s start date is March 1 and should be completed by June 1, 2020.
