Have you ever had your eyebrows threaded? Denton’s newest treasure, SOI Brow Threading Salon, is having their Grand Opening event today in Denton. The Denton location has been open for that last four or so months, but today owner Alpana Jacob gets to reveal her beautiful business along with treating customers to $1 threading (today only!)

SOI stands for Styles of India, as the franchise is Indian owned. Jacob herself is first generation Indian-American; her parents were born in Bombay. She was born in England, but has lived in Denton most of her life, including attending high school here, and both UNT and TWU nursing school.
Jacob decided to open her own threading franchise for many reasons, one being she wants to help promote confidence in women with darker hair. As someone who comes from a mixed Italian family, I can testify to how self-conscious one can get, having dark hair grow in naturally on their arms. My mother - for years - shaved her arm hair because of the forever dark hair that grew in, no thanks to her Italian heritage. Not to say she did not appreciate her lineage, she just didn’t appreciate the dark hair that came along with it sometimes.
SOI Brow is more than just threading. The salon offers henna, eyebrow tinting, and waxing services. Henna starts at just $4 and the in-house henna artist is completely fantastic. She completed a design on my hand and forearm in the matter of minutes, flawlessly executed.

Eyebrow threading is a practice of shaping the eyebrows using a cotton thread. The twisting action of the thread traps the hair and lifts it out of the follicle. You can have more than your eyebrows threaded, though! Ya know, hair is all over your body. SOI Brown offers threading for your whole face, neck, forehead, upper lip, chin, and the sides of your face.
Yes, people with flawless skin and lighter colored facial and body hair, laugh it up. People do, in fact, get their necks threaded. (Hell, some people get way more than that waxed, too).

SOI Brow is open Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 8:00 pm, and Sunday from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. The salon is located at 2219 S Loop 288, Ste 205, across from the Golden Triangle Mall.
